About Pat's Shed
Some businesses are built from spreadsheets and strategy. Mine grew from a hobby that simply refused to stay small.
I'm Pat — Patricia to some, but Pat to everyone who knows me. For years I was a primary school teacher, and I loved every moment of it. But every Saturday I was out hunting — auctions and garage sales — looking for antiques, solid timber pieces, and anything with a story worth telling. What started as a hobby quickly outgrew our home, and before long we were building a large shed right beside it just to house everything.
When I finally stepped away from teaching, the shed became my full time world. And I didn't end up there alone — somewhere along the way I managed to drag in my husband, my son, and even my mum and dad. It's very much a family affair now, which I think you can feel when you visit.
We live on a rural property on the northern edge of Hamilton — chickens, cows, pigs, a large garden and orchard. It's an unhurried kind of place, and that feeling carries into the shed itself.
People come to browse and end up staying. They run their hands along the grain of a kauri dresser, spot a jug just like their grandmother's, or find the very thing they didn't know they were looking for. Some arrive with something specific in mind. Others simply come for the pleasure of wandering somewhere full of possibility.
Now I want to bring that same experience online. Welcome to Pat's Shed — take your time and have a look around.
